Trajetory:
SdeasTranslations is a one-person company, founded in Curitiba, Brazil, by Rafael Sdeas.
Graduated in Modern Languages from Uniandrade, Rafael started doing translation work when he was still a college undergrad student. It was then that he started to enjoy the craft.
In 2020, he started working as an English Teacher at InFlux English School, where it was necessary to make on the spot translations between English and Portuguese, to help his students express themselves in the target language. Also it was necessary to explain the meaning of random sentences students would bring that they had seen in a movie or heard in a song.
It was in 2022 that the title of Translator was first assined to him. Working to a british company named Tranlayte as a freelancer was the experience necessary so that he could be sure this was his thing. For that company, the language pair of the translations was French and Portuguese, which was a very rewarding challenge.
In the year of 2023, the most ambicious project yet was about to take place; the translation of a book for kids from Portuguese into English. Adding many hours and discutions with Cássia Faccioli, the writer, and a month of writting and reviewing, The Wishful Pet and the Recycling had been finalized.
